NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The RTA is extending operating hours for the Algiers-Canal Street ferry on Monday for the Independence Day fireworks display on the Mississippi River. The last ferry trip will depart from Canal Street at 10:15 p.m.

The RTA says the fireworks will suspend ferry service from 9:00 p.m. until about 9:20 p.m. The ferry's normal operating schedule will resume on Tuesday, July 5.

As far as the Lower Algiers-Chalmette ferry, it will operate from 6:00 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. on July 4. For more information, passengers can visit us online at click here or call 504-309-9789.
