Summary

A major FBI: InternationaI star is set to depart during season 3, signaling another significant shift for the franchise. The second spinoff in the FBI franchise, FBI: International debuted on CBS in September 2011. The story follows a team of FBI special agents who investigate crime and terrorism abroad, with a cast that includes Luke Kleintank, Heida Reed, Carter Redwood, Vinessa Vidotto, Eva-Jane Willis, Christina Wolfe, and Christiane Paul.

TVLine reports that Reed, who portrays Jamie Kellet, will exit the police procedural early on in FBI: International season 3. Reps for CBS and Wolf Entertainment, which produces the show, did not comment on the news, but it's mentioned that Reed's exit is “creatively driven.” It's worth noting that the season 2 finale ends with almost everyone on the team reeling from a bomb explosion, including FBI Special Agent Kellett.

FBI: International season 3 premieres February 13, 2024 on CBS.

The Latest Changes to the FBI Franchise, Explained

Reed's exit comes as Batwoman and The Ark actor Christina Wolfe is joining the FBI spinoff, appearing in the first episode of season 3 and continuing as a main cast member from that point. But the departure of Reed, who has been with FBI: International since the very beginning, with Kellett as the team's second-in-command, isn't the only recent and notable change in the CBS franchise.

It was announced in August that Alexa Davalos would not be returning to FBI: Most Wanted. The actor, who has played Special Agent Kristin Gaines since season 3, was told by a producer that she would not return after filming her last scenes in FBI: Most Wanted season 4. Multiple sources described Davalos' exit as "amicable." More recently, it was reported that Shantel VanSanten will be moving from FBI and taking the role of Special Agent Nina Chase to FBI: Most Wanted season 5.

These cast shifts are also happening as FBI co-creator and showrunner Derek Haas has stepped back from the franchise and Wolf Entertainment to focus on creating new projects, which he first revealed in November 2022. The spinoffs and the original are still strong performers for CBS despite going through the kind of cast changes that are common for procedural dramas.
