Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much awaited magnum opus, Padmavat which was earlier titled Padmavati has finally got a release date. The film will release on January 25 and will be clashing with Akshay Kumar’s PadMan at the box-office. Padmavat that was earlier scheduled to hit the theatres on December 1, 2017 faced a lot of controversy with a Rajputi group named Karni Sena which raised objections on the portrayal of the queen’s role in the film.
Film’s release date was confirmed a while ago by a popular trade analyst who was quoted as, “#Padmavat to release on 25 Jan 2018… #RepublicDayWeekend”.
It was after the film was screened for the special bunch of historians who suggested new modifications and the new title. The film stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in the lead role and is inspired by Malik Muhammad Jayasi’s Padmavat.
