Fleming Beach wipeout | News, Sports, Jobs

July 2024 · 2 minute read

Salt Lake City native Gabe Warr wipes out Wednesday morning while skimboarding at D.T. Fleming Beach Park in Kapalua. It was Warr’s fourth day on Maui after moving to the island to intern at Del Sol Maui and Cariloha in Lahaina. “I love it. It’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen,” he said. A high-surf advisory was to remain in effect until 6 a.m. today for the north- and east-facing shores of Maui and Molokai, according to the National Weather Service. Strong trade winds churned up 6- to 8-foot surf, and currents made swimming dangerous. Forecasters predict mostly clear skies with a few windward and mauka showers in the mornings and late nights today through Saturday. Mostly cloudy in the afternoons and evenings with a chance of showers. High temperatures should range from 83 to 88 degrees, with overnight lows of 67 to 72.
