Omari Hardwick is an American television and film actor. He’s best known for the television series ‘Power’, ‘Being Mary Jane’, ‘Saved’ and ‘Dark Blue’. His film credits include For Colored Girls (2010), Kick-Ass (2010), and The A-Team (2010). Hardwick was born on January 9, 1974, in Savannah, Georgia. His parents are Clifford and Joyce Hardwick. He has three siblings, Jamil, Malik, and Shani. Hardwick attended Marist School in Atlanta, Georgia, where he played a variety of sports. He continued his education at the University of Georgia on a football scholarship. He minored in theater and was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. After college Hardwick moved to San Diego to try out for the San Diego Chargers. He suffered a knee injury which ended his football career.

CAREER
Hardwick began writing poetry as a teenager. He studied off-Broadway in New York City before moving to Los Angeles in 2000. While in L.A. he worked various jobs to pay for acting classes. He competed and finished in the top-5 of the 2003 and 2004 National Poetry Slam Competitions. Hardwick made his television debut in a 2005 episode of the NBC series, Crossing Jordan. The following year he was cast as John “Sack” Hallon in the medical drama series, Saved. The show ran for 13 episodes on TNT. Hardwick appeared in Spike Lee’s television film, Sucker Free City (2004). He had a small role as “Carl Billings” in The Guardian (2006) starring Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher.

Hardwick starred as “Ty Curtis” in the series Dark Blue (2009-10). He was nominated for a NAMIC Award for best performance. His next big role was that of “Andre” in the BET drama series, Being Mary Jane (2013-14). For that role, he won a Black Reel Award for outstanding actor in a series. Hardwick currently stars as James “Ghost” St. Patrick in the crime-drama, Power. The show premiered on Starz in June 2014. Hardwick appeared alongside Donald Faison and Mike Epps in the action-comedy, Next Day Air (2009). He was cast as “Carl” in Tyler Perry‘s For Colored Girls (2010). His film credits also include Kick-Ass (2010) with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, The A-Team (2010) with Liam Neeson, and I Will Follow (2011) with Salli Richardson. Hardwick is the founder of Bravelife Films. He’s also a co-founder of ‘Plan B Inc. Theater Group’ and the ‘Actor’s Lounge’ in Los Angeles.
